Format for EMDR Consultation

Group

My groups are 1½ hour groups that meet monthly. They are closed groups, meaning that group members are preselected and do not drop in. Currently, my groups are all online. I interview potential members in order to assess their goodness of fit with the group and the group’s appropriateness for their needs. I expect that group members will attend on a regular basis, barring unforeseen life circumstances.

An atmosphere of support and non-competition within the group is primary in order for group members to freely discuss cases and clinical issues. At the beginning of each group, I ask that members give a short overview of the cases or issues they are needing to address that day. I encourage group members to comment and give feedback in a supportive manner to the group member who is presenting as time allows. The group may also focus on certain EMDR topics and clinical issues if there is time after case presentations. I often provide learning materials and other resources as we approach different topics in EMDR therapy. If the consultee is working toward certification, we will address the EMDRIA requirements for group consultation.

Fee for Group Consultation: $50.00 per 90-minute group

Individual Consultation

Individual consultation begins after an initial screening interview, during which we will discuss needs, expectations, and goals that you bring, as well as my expectations as a consultant. Regular attendance is important for ongoing consultation. If the consultee is seeking certification, our format will be the same except for addressing EMDRIA requirements. I regularly offer consultees forms that expand on EMDR protocols, case conceptualization, and treatment planning, as well as articles and book recommendations.

Fee for Individual Consultation: $100.00 per hour

Certification

If you decide to become a Certified EMDR Therapist, you will be taking the next step toward creating a professional identity of dedication to your growth as an EMDR therapist. Clients or employers may also seek an EMDR Certified Therapist as an indication of good faith on the part of the therapist. An EMDR Certified Therapist has clearly met standards of clinical practice, continuing education, and consultation.

Certified therapists have engaged in at least 20 hours of consultation with an EMDR Consultant, and have practiced their skills with at least 25 clients in at least 50 EMDR sessions. When you initiate consultation for EMDR Certification, I will include information as to the EMDRIA requirements and the means of achieving them. We will use a variety of case consultation and case conceptualization tools that can assist you in becoming certified.
